Since expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries is of prime importance, Iran has designated a veteran diplomat as its ambassador to Azerbaijan and there is no doubt that the move will help deepen relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Vasif Talibov said.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is a strategic friend and a reliable neighbor for Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azeri people never forget Iran's kindness during hard times, he said.
The Iranian ambassador conveyed the warm greetings of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and underlined that Iranian officials are determined to bolster ties between the two countries.
He termed the prospects of mutual ties and cooperation as very promising.
There are ample political, economic, social and cultural grounds for expansion of mutual ties which should be seized, he said.
