IRGC commander: Enemies not dare impose any threat against Iran

Tehran, Nov 4, IRNA – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Ja’fari said Sunday that Iran’s armed forces have become so strong and powerful that no enemy would even dare impose any military threats against the country.

“Today Iran has reached a high extent of power and security that enemies of the country could not even dare make any military threats in the Persian Gulf waters,” said the commander addressing a ceremony to launch IRGC’s fifth naval zone in the southern port city of Bandar Lengeh in Hormuzgan Province.

"Iran’s armed forces have successfully competed with the enemies of the country by developing their defensive capabilities in line with enemies’ military capabilities," said the commander.

He stressed that the IRGC was responsible for safguarding sustainable security of the Persian Gulf region.

The fifth naval zone of the IRGC was officially inaugurated in the southern port city of Bandar Lengeh earlier Sunday morning.

The fifth zone operations will cover an area from Qeshm island and Naze'aat Islands region to the western waters of the Kish island in the Persian Gulf region.

Ja'fari referred to the fifth naval zone as one of the most sensitive and strategic frontlines of Iran.

Iran has repeatedly called for withdrawal of foreign military troops from the region noting that their presence will only undermine the security of the strategic waterway of Hormuz Strait.
