FM urges need to refer Zionists crimes to int'l court

Tehran, Aug 28, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif urged Palestinian resistance leaders to take the case of Zionist regime's atrocities against Gazans to international courts.

Zarif made the remarks Wednesday night while speaking to Leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad Ramadan Shalah and Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau Khaled Mashal in separate telephone conversations.

He urged the two resistance leaders to follow up the case from both legal and political aspects at the international courts.

Felicitating Shalah and Mashal on the victory of the Palestinians in their resistance against Tel Aviv's ruthless aggression on Gaza Strip, the Iranian minister referred to that victory as the beginning of greater triumphs for the Palestinian nation to restore their rights completely which included putting an end to the Israeli occupation, returning of the Palestinian refugees to their homes and formation of an independent Palestinian government as well as liberation of the Holy Quds.

Noting that reconstruction of Gaza requires massive efforts, Zarif expressed hope that international community and particularly the Islamic nations will immediately come to help the Gazans.

Zarif also reiterated Tehran's support for the Palestinians' cause.

The war in Gaza ended on Tuesday after the Zionist regime and the Palestinians agreed to an open-ended ceasefire to end seven weeks of fighting in Gaza.

The deal agreed an immediate easing of the Zionist regime's blockade of crossings into Gaza, and a gradual lifting of restrictions on fishing off the coast of the strip.

Speaking onTuesday from the West Bank, the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas hailed the agreement as a chance to "build a new nation and end the occupation."
