Indian analyst: Israel misusing the International silence on Gaza

New Delhi, July 28, IRNA -- An Indian analyst of the international affairs believes that the Zionist regime is misusing the silence of the International community to intensify the mass liking of the innocent people including children and women in Gaza.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA here on Monday, Reshmi Kazi, an Associate Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis (IDSA), said: "According to official figures, at least 649 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza 74 per cent of whom are civilians. One third of these figures so far are children."

Terming the brutal actions of the Zionist regime in Gaza as inhuman, she said: "Each of the children killed in Gaza had a name, a future and a life that has been brutally cut short. Israeli bombings have not taken enough measures to protect civilians. Medical clinics and their staff have been hit by incessant Israeli air strikes. The manner in which Israeli forces conducted indiscriminately bombing upon innocent civilians including women and children shows Israel’s disregard for innocent human lives and humanitarian law."

“The disproportionate violence and the human rights situation in Occupied Palestine Territory including East Jerusalem are disconcerting. Israel has shown total disregard for innocent human lives and humanitarian law. It is unacceptable. Israeli policies are condemnable.” Kazi added.

Calling upon the world leaders to condemn the Zionist regime for killing the innocent people in Gaza, the seasoned analyst of the world affairs said: "It is time that the global leaders condemn Israel’s violence and initiate responsibility to protect policy towards Palestine. The UN’s decision to launch inquiry into Israel possibly committing war crimes means that the international community has had enough with Israel.”

Terming the total silence of the US as a main factor in further worsening of the situation in Gaza, Kazi said: "The US should be more proactive in restraining Israel from its brutal attacks against innocent civilians. President Obama must undertake appropriate measures to stop the killings in Gaza. The US remaining a mute spectator only worsens the situation in Gaza.”

On India’s reaction to the developments in Gaza, she said: "Though there remained a lull at the governmental level to condemn Israel’s actions, the mounting pressure from the opposition parties have made the Indian Government to take a strong stand against Israel. India joined Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa by voting in support of a UN resolution on "Ensuring Respect for International Law in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem"”.

“Condemning the "disproportionate use of force" by Israel, India has urged the necessity for

conducting a probe on Israel's offense on Gaza. India is "deeply concerned at the steep escalation of violence between Israel and Palestine, particularly heavy air strikes in Gaza and disproportionate use of force on ground, resulting in tragic loss of civilian lives, especially women and children and heavy damage to property." Kazi added.

Calling upon the Muslim nations to cooperate in bringing an end to the war in Gaza, Kazi said: "The Arab States and Iran must break the ice between Palestine and Israel. They must urge both Palestine and Israel resume to final status negotiations immediately, while striving for improvement of Palestinian governance, security, and transparency. Stability in the Middle East will benefit all other nations in the region. This will enhance stability in the region.”
