President appeals to Muslim World to help Gaza people

Tehran, July 28, IRNA - President Hassan Rouhani in a phone conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday appealed to the Muslim governments to help the oppressed people of Gaza.

Rouhani urged the international community to put an immediate end to the Zionist regime assaults on Gaza and lifting Gaza siege.

If Cairo prepares the ground for dispatch of humanitarian emergency supplies to the Gaza people, Tehran and Ankara can help collect the Muslim world's aids and dispatch them to war-torn region, he said.

President Rouhani noted that regional states should do their best to secure regional stability and dismantle the terror groups in Iraq and Syria.

The Turkish prime minister for his part, congratulated the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr to Iranian nation and government.

The official hailed holding of emergency meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Palestine Committee of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran next week.

Erdogan welcomed expansion of bilateral cooperation in all fields including the resolution of regional issues.

Gaza has been blockaded by the Israeli regime since 2007, a situation that has caused a decline in the standard of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty.

More than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 5,000 others injured in recent Israeli offensive on Gaza since July 8.
