Tehran to host int'l pharmaceutical exhibit

Tehran, July 27, IRNA -- The First International Exhibition on Pharmaceutical Industries and Related Services titled IranPharma will be held at Tehran's International Permanent Fairground from September 15 to 18.

Dr. Mehdi Pirsalehi, director general of Iran’s Food and Drug Organization for supervising medicines, and Mahmoud Najafi-Arab, the head of Iranian Holder of Human Pharmaceutical Industries Syndicate, are organizers of the event.

Najafi-Arab said pharmaceutical producers, packaging companies and machinery manufacturers will participate in the exhibition.

"The goal of the exhibition is to promote export of domestic medicines," he said.

He added that Iranian scientists have the knowhow to produce drugs with modern technologies, including nanotechnology and biotechnology.

Pirsalehi said over two-thirds of 2,900 medicines in the forms of pill, syrup, serum and vial are produced in the country.

The exhibition aims to introduce the latest pharmaceutical products, create a suitable atmosphere for communication between the industry and university, set different seminars and conferences following the exhibition and exchange technical knowledge regarding new drugs with foreign countries.
