NAM urges UN Security Council to help stop Gaza massacre

Tehran, July 27, IRNA - Iranian ambassador to the UN in a meeting with the president of the UN Security Council on Saturday urged this international body to help stop Zionist regime's massacre of Gaza people.

Gholam-Hossein Dehqani along with the representatives of a number of NAM member states including Egypt, Venezuela and Palestine, discussed the latest developments in Gaza with Eugène-Richard Gasana, Ruanda ambassador to the UN and current president of the UN Security Council.

In the meeting, the Iranian envoy, as head of the Non-Aligned Movement declared NAM's deep concern over Zionist regime's assaults on defenseless Palestinians in Gaza.

The NAM president asked the UN to intervene and stop the continuation of Israeli attacks on medical centers, schools and civilians.

UN silence towards Zionists crimes in Gaza can undermine UN Security Council's credibility as an international body responsible for world peace, Dehqani noted.

Gasana promised to convey NAM member states' concern to the UN Security Council and pursue the case in the council.

The crimes committed by the Zionist regime including occupation of Palestinian lands as well as their collective torture, imprisonment and execution are crimes against humanity.

The Zionist regime's ongoing assaults on Gazan civilians are clear violation of international rules and regulations.

So far, more than 1000 Palestinian people have been killed and over 5000 others injured as a result of Israeli atrocities started on July 8.
