Media campaign, the other side of war on Gaza

Tehran, July 27, IRNA - 'Iran Daily' on Sunday criticized the BBC and CNN media outlets for failing to report, till date, any news whatsoever on the Zionist regime's brutal aggression of the besieged Gaza Strip.

The two channels however continue to broadcast reports on the terror that rockets fired by Hamas cause among Israelis, pointed out the English-language newspaper.

Both channels are hiding many realities about the crimes in Gaza much to the joy of Israel, and at the end of the day blame the oppressed Palestinians for the entire crisis, it added.

BBC and CNN, it seems, have largely lost credibility among their viewers as reliable news channels for their biased coverage of Israel’s brutal aggression on Gaza. They have not yet reported a single death among Israeli civilians, yet they keep broadcasting reports about the terror that rockets fired by Hamas cause among Israelis.

This is while hundreds of Palestinians, among them many women and children, have been killed in Israel’s bombardment of the coastal enclave and BBC and CNN are trying to downgrade the massacre by giving it an improper and partial coverage, the paper denounced.

The issue appears to be stemming from an attitude set by the channels’ bosses that is siding with Israel vis-à-vis its enemies, it added.

From the viewpoint of these media outlets, Hamas should be blamed for all the bloodshed. But they never denounce Israel for Kafr Qasim and Deir Yassin massacres decades ago during which scores of Palestinians were killed at the hands of Israeli forces. At the time, there was no Hamas!

These mainstream media have never talked about Israel’s crimes against Palestinians over the past 60 years and today they keep silent on Tel Aviv’s carnage in Gaza.

They never say why most of the victims of Israel’s bombardment in Gaza are civilians and why Hamas’ rockets fired into Israel rarely cause damage or casualties.

They shamelessly blame Hamas for the crisis saying Palestinian fighters have provoked Israel into attacking the coastal territory.

When the bodies of three Israeli teenagers, kidnapped in the West Bank, were found late last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not mince words. “Hamas is responsible, and Hamas will pay,” he said, initiating a campaign that eventually escalated into the present conflict in the region.

But now, officials admit the kidnappings were not the handiwork of Hamas after all, the Daily Intelligencer reported on Saturday, noted the paper. But the

BBC and CNN blamed the Hamas for the kidnap and killing in their reports.

These media outlets never point to Israel’s suffocating blockade of Gaza since 2007 which has turned the strip into a large prison for over 1.8 million people there.

Last but not the least, they never touch upon the issue that the crippling siege has greatly added to the sufferings of Gazans and caused deadly food and medicine shortage./end
