Athens gathering commemorates World Quds Day

Athens, July 25, IRNA – A gathering was held in Athens on Thursday to commemorate the World Quds Day. The event focused on investigating the "accelerating violence and its effect on the future of the Holy Quds".

A number of Greek political and religious figures as well as thinker and scholar took part in the gathering which was hosted by Iran's embassy in the country.

Addressing the gathering, Iran's Ambassador to Athens Behnam Behruz highlighted the widespread negative reactions by the Greek people to the crimes committed by the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip.

He said the anti-Israel demonstrations held in Greece against massacre of defenseless women and children in Palestine indicated spirit of love for humanity in the nation.

He referred to the history of designating the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as an international day to voice support for Palestine by the late founder of the Islamic Republic in Iran Imam Khomeini and said Iranians have always backed the oppressed Palestinian nation.
