Tehran, Baku to boost IT cooperation

Baku, July 24, IRNA – Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pakaeen on Thursday held talks with Azeri Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Azerbaijan Ali Abbasov on ways to develop cooperation between the two countries on information technology.

During the meeting, Abbasov referred to his recent visit to Iran as useful and constructive. He said that he and his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Vaezi discussed expansion of bilateral and regional cooperation as well as cooperation between private sectors of both countries.

He said that officials from Iran and Azerbaijan are due to sign an agreement in the near future to help deepen bilateral relations.

Meanwhile, the Iranian ambassador underlined the need for preparing the ground to boost cooperation between private sectors of Iran and Azerbaijan.

Pakaeen said that a delegation from Iranian companies active in the field of information technology is due to visit Azerbaijan in the near future.

He said that a recent visit to Tehran by Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev was a turning point in relations between the two neighboring countries and expressed hope that Tehran-Baku trade would increase significantly, once an agreement is signed on technological cooperation.
