FM spokeswoman urges reopening of Rafah border point

Tehran, July 24, IRNA - Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham here on Thursday called for reopening of Rafah border crossing as soon as possible.

Afkham also expressed hope that the arrival of humanitarian aids of different countries to Gaza could alleviate the sufferings of the innocent people of this region who are facing tough living conditions, lack of medical supplies and human assistance.

She also expressed hope that by allowing the humanitarian supplies of various countries to Gaza, the sufferings of the defenseless people, who are living in a very critical condition, would be partly alleviated.

The first consignment of Iran's Red Crescent Society, including foodstuff and medical supplies for the Gaza people, was sent to Egypt, following an order issued by President Hassan Rouhani, and now the shipment is waiting to receive permission to pass through Rafah border crossing," Afkham said.

Since July 8, more than 700 people have been killed and hundreds of people injured by the Israeli regime's airstrikes against Gaza, despite pressures from the international community to stop the bloodshed.
