VP condemns Israeli atrocities in Gaza

Tehran, July 24, IRNA - Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi in a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon blasted the Zionist regime's brutal attacks on defenseless people of Gaza.

In her letter, Molaverdi urged the UN chief to help stop massacre of Palestinians, the children in particular, by the Zionist regime.

More than two weeks have been passed since the beginning of the new round of the Zionist regime's atrocities in Gaza Strip, she said, regretting that silence of the international community has fanned the flames of the Zionists' crimes in the region.

Molaverdi stressed that the Zionist regime's ongoing assaults on Gazans are clear violation of Geneva Conventions, UN Charter and the international human rights standards.

Since July 8, Israeli warplanes have been carrying out incessant airstrikes against Gaza.

On July 17, thousands of Israeli soldiers launched a ground invasion into the densely-populated Strip.
