Imam Khomeini’s legacy “only solution” to liberate Quds: Scholar

New Delhi, July 23, IRNA – An Indian academician Tuesday said that Imam Khomeini’s legacy, to observe International Quds Day on the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan, is the only solution to liberate Bait-ul-Muqaddas from the clutches of Israel.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Professor Basir Ahmed Khan, former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in Delhi said the Founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini, by designating the last Friday of Ramdan as the International Quds Day in 1979, has set the path for liberation of Bait-ul-Muqaddas, the highly sacred place for world Muslims.

The Imam also invited Muslims to unitedly raise their voice against the Zionist regime’s illegal occupation of the Palestinian lands, he added.

He said that although thirty-five years have passed since then, the world is still witnessing that the direction shown by Imam Khomeini is still followed by the Muslims across the globe. “Today the Int’l Quds Day is being observed world-wide with religious fervor and no power on earth dares to stop it anywhere across the world,” added Basir.

He reiterated that as the late Imam has emphasized, it is not a day devoted to Palestinians. It is the day for the weak and oppressed to confront the arrogant powers, he added.

Referring to threats posed by Israel, which has for the last 15 days intensified criminal attacks against Gazans, butchering innocent women, children and elderly people, he urged the world Muslims to immortalize the International Quds Day by participating in the rallies on July 25.

He urged, not only Muslims but all the world's oppressed nations, to attend the auspicious occasion.
