Larijani: Muslims should undertake active role to help people of Gaza

Tehran, July 20, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Sunday that the Muslim World should undertake active role to help Gaza people.

Speaking with his Omani counterpart Sheikh Khaled Bin Hilal Al-Maouli, Larijani said that the Muslim governments should hold close consultations and cooperation to prevent such human tragedy to take place.

He expressed outrage at the Israeli disproportionate massacre of Palestinians in Gaza and said regarding intensification and continued inhumane and merciless attacks of Tel Aviv on the defenseless people of Palestine, the Muslim governments should have close cooperation and consultations to pre-empt the such tragedies.

As head of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's Inter-Parliamentary Union, Iran will host the troika of Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union to study ways and means of political support for the Palestinian nation, said Larijani.

The Omani parliamentarian for his part thanked Iran for its constant support for the people of Palestine and said Iran's support for the Palestinian people since culmination of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 has been exemplary.

He said the Israeli massacre of the people in Gaza is regrettable, prompting any Muslim government to fulfill religious responsibililty to ensure safety of their Muslim brethern.

He declared the initiative of Iranian Majlis as Chairman of the OIC Inter-Parliamentary Union to organize an emergency meeting to study the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

He hoped that the Tehran meeting will adopt effective plans to help people of Gaza.
