Israel, main threat to world peace: Daily

Tehran, July 20, IRNA - 'Kayhan International' on Sunday commented on the recent survey for the European Commission in the member states of the EU which found that nearly 60% of European citizens believe Israel is the biggest threat to world peace.

In light of the above, the English-language daily in its Viewpoint column on Sunday urged the international community to help stop the vicious cycle of violence, before Israel could kill more with US-supplied armaments.

The nuclear-armed rogue state of Israel should not be allowed to get away with murder either, highlighted the paper.

The criminal regime of Israel on Thursday night launched a ground offensive into the Gaza Strip, using American fighter jets, Apache attack helicopters, armored vehicles, rocket firing drones, white phosphorus dense inert metal explosive bombs, and other experimental weapons.

Despite what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would like to claim, the Israeli army is only attacking Gaza to do two jobs: to kill and to destroy. The harsher truth is that Israel is committing crimes against humanity, because it is attacking a population that has no food, no army, no navy, no air force, no mechanized military units, no command and control, and no heavy artillery, the paper stressed.

Amazingly, Tel Aviv pretends that this indiscriminate slaughter is a war. But only the most self-deluded supporter of Israel is fooled. The new state of war declared by Israel has no defense; it is designed to stop the formation of a new Palestinian unity government and to serve as an excuse for further tyranny against the Palestinian population.

Tel Aviv likewise pretends that the entire episode is only against Hamas, which it calls "a threat to regional peace and stability”. Again only a fool will buy such an appalling lie. Quite the opposite, it is Israel that is the top threat to world peace and stability, and (at least) that’s what the official European Commission poll has to say.

Even Human Rights Watch has weighed in again, saying: "Israeli air attacks in Gaza investigated by Human Rights Watch have been targeting apparent civilian structures and killing civilians in violation of the laws of war. And the UN estimates that over three-quarters of those killed in the Israeli raids - largely using US arms - over the past week are civilians.”

The terror now being unleashed on the Gazans has killed and wounded thousands of civilians, mainly infants, children, women, and the elderly, concluded the paper.
