Foreign ships ready to take berth at Iranian ports

Tehran, July 16, IRNA - A senior official said here on Wednesday that several European, Asian and American companies have voiced their readiness to moor their ships at the Iranian ports once anti-Iran sanctions are lifted.

Deputy Oil Minister for Petrochemical Affairs Abbas Sheri stressed that all the European, Japanese, Korean and American vessel owners also are seeking the P&P insurance coverage.

He described LPG as the main product of Iran petrochemical industry, adding despite the intense desire of the foreign ship owners to carry these products, they could not take berth at the Iranian ports due to the imposed sanctions on Tehran.

Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council- the United States, China, Russia, France and Britain - plus Germany sealed an interim deal in Geneva on November 24 to pave the way for the full resolution of the West’s decade-old dispute with Iran over the country’s nuclear program.
