Khazali, son of former top official freed from Jail

Tehran, July 15, IRNA - Mehdi Khazali, the son of former member of Guardian Council Ayatollah Abolqasem Khazali, was freed from jail late on Sunday.

Khazali, who had been on a hunger strike in the prison was shifted to the hospital due to his critical condition, his lawyer Mostafa Tork Hamedani said on Monday.

Khazali was arrested in the northern city of Nour, Mazandaran province, on June 29. Khazali, a publisher, physician and blogger, was sentenced to six years in prison on charges of threatening national security and anti-government propaganda, Hamedani said.
