Tehran, July 13, IRNA – Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Sunday stressed the need for a collective move to eliminate terrorism in the region, saying that terrorists in Iraq will fail as they did in Syria.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the outgoing Italian Ambassador to Iran Luca Giansanti.

Appreciating Italian ambassador's efforts during his mission to Tehran, Boroujerdi said that there are good potentials for promoting economic cooperation in light of the friendly ties.

Boroujerdi hoped that the ambassador will help enhance level of cooperation between the two countries in his new capacity at the Italian Foreign Ministry.

As to the nuclear talks between Iran and Group 5+1, he said that confidence plays a crucial role to reach a Comprehensive Agreement.

on Iraq, Boroujerid said that the Islamic Republic of Iran calls for national reconciliation in Iraq and supports Iraqi territorial integrity and consensus among all ethnic groups and tribes to counter terrorism.

Stressing the need for a collective move to eradicate terrorism in the region, Boroujerdi reiterated that as the terrorists and their patrons failed in Syria, they will get nowhere in Iraq, too.

Condemning escalation of violence and Israeli aggression on Gaza, he said that global community should not remain silent against the real holocaust being exercised by the occupying regime against the oppressed Palestinians.

The Italian envoy, for his part, said that Iran enjoys a special status in his country's foreign policy.

He called for continued communication between the two governments, especially in parliamentary field.

Acknowledging Majlis for its endeavors to promote mutual cooperation, he said that the two countries' parliaments play a paramount role to remove obstacles in the way of boosting cooperation.

Giansanti expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis underway in Gaza, saying that the Italian foreign minister has travelled to the region to help establish ceasefire between Israel and Palestine.
