Lebanese official vows to pursue case of abducted Iranians

Tehran, July 10, IRNA – Lebanese Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi on Wednesday pledged to continue his efforts to pursue the case of four Iranian diplomats abducted in Lebanon.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the families of Iranian diplomats kidnapped on July 4, 1982.

The families had also separate meetings with Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Lebanon's Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Wafiq Rahimi.

The Lebanese officials expressed solidarity with the families of abducted Iranian diplomats.

The families explained the measures they have so far taken, noting that they expected the Lebanese government to make further efforts in pursuing the case.

Ahmad Motavesseliyan, Mohsen Mousavi and Taqi Rastgar-Moqaddam along with Kazem Akhavan, a photojournalist, were abducted on their way from Tripoli to Iran's Embassy in Beirut by Lebanese Phalange forces on July 4, 1982.
