Self-care program supports 23m families

Tehran, July 9, IRNA -- About 23 million Iranian families will be covered by the Self-care Program, announced the head of Health Ministry's Office of Health Education and Promotion.

Thursday edition of the English language newspaper Iran Daily quoted Shahram Rafie-Pour as saying one of programs of the Health Reform Plan is to implement the National Program of Self-care Development and Promotion.

In line with the program, Health Ministry will distribute a national guideline to all Iranian families, he noted.

According to the program, Rafie-Pour said one member from each family will be trained as health ambassador. They will receive an eight-hour direct and indirect training.

Employees in their offices and students in the schools will receive education, the official added. "People with chronic diseases in families will be identified by health ambassadors. Afterwards, an electronic profile will be made for them and they will undergo standard training to control their disease."
