Iran, Serbia to expand cultural cooperation

Tehran, July 5, IRNA - Iran and Serbia agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to bolster artistic and cultural interactions between the two countries.

The decision was made in a meeting in Belgrade between the president of the Children's Cultural Center of Serbia Olivera Ježina and Iranian Cultural Attaché in Belgrade Mahmoud Shalouei.

Speaking in the meeting, Ježina expressed satisfaction with the expansion of her country's art and cultural ties with Iran.

She noted boosting mutual ties can be very effective in improving the level of cultural programs, stimulating people's mental creativity and fostering artistic innovations among children and young adults.

Stressing that Iran is a civilized country which has a rich culture, she said deepening relations with Tehran will be in the interest of Serbia.

Ježina noted the MoU will enable the two countries to engage in constructive and effective cooperation more seriously.

Referring to Iran's numerous artistic and cultural capacities and the two sides' willingness to boost relations at the same meeting, Shalouei said, "At present, we have a unique opportunity to make progress."

Listing Iranian festivals and children's artistic and cultural programs, he said Serbian theater groups can take part in an international children and young adult theater festival will be held in Hamedan province.
