President Rouhani calls for expansion of all-out ties with China

Shanghai, China, May 22, IRNA – Iran's President Hassan Rouhani here on Thursday underlined the need for further expansion of Tehran-Beijing scientific, cultural and economic relations.

Addressing a group of Chinese scholars and elites, President Rouhani urged the Iranian and Chinese research centers to develop strategies for setting long-term relationship based on mutual interest.

Pointing to Iran-China historic relations, he underlined that the Silk Road should be revived to make the regional nations closer to each other.

Commenting on the current situation in both region and the world, he noted that Iran is seeking to expand its all-out ties with Beijing.

Touching on challenges facing and concerns of the human community, such as violence and extremism, President Rouhani underscored that examples of such prevailing crises are seen in several countries including Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Bahrain and Egypt.

Countering violence, extremism and terrorism is not the task of a nation or a continent, he said, addling all human beings should join hands to deal with these problems.

President Rouhani also underlined that Iran is ready to cooperate with the Chinese side in the fields of defense, aerospace and new technologies.
