Enrichment, Arak facility, lifting of sanctions on the agenda of next round of nuclear talks

Tehran, Feb 23, IRNA -- The next round of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 will focus on the quantity and quality of uranium enrichment in Iran, lifting of sanctions and Arak heavy water reactor, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi was quoted as saying by Spokesman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Hossein Naqavi Hosseini.

Araqchi who had attended a Commission session on Sunday said Iran declared during recent nuclear talks in Vienna it will not accept any issues beyond its (November) deal and that no issues other than Iran’s nuclear program should ever be raised during the talks, according to Naqavi Hosseini.

Araqchi further said that no (UN Security Council) anti-Iran resolutions could be implemented.

Araqchi, a senior member of Iran’s negotiating team with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany over its nuclear program, told Iranian legislators that the recent round of talks in Vienna aimed to find a comprehensive deal to include Iran’s right to go ahead with its peaceful nuclear activities, lifting of all anti-Iran sanctions and normalizing the nuclear issue.

The deputy foreign minister also said that the two sides agreed on the timeframe for talks during the next four months and that the two sides are expected to hold six rounds of negotiations.

He added that EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton is scheduled to visit Tehran from March 10-11.

Araqchi said that the Zionist regime is making every effort to derail the negotiations and persuade the United States and the West to pursue military option in dealing with Iran’s nuclear issue.

He reiterated that the US and Israel failed to force Iran to give up its right to uranium enrichment and Iran’s right has been recognized.

Araqchi said that Iranian people’s massive turnout in rallies on February 12 to mark the 35th anniversary of Islamic Revolution and the guidelines of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei are the main factors behind the success of the negotiating team.
