Pakistan PM announces flights for Shia devotees after attacks

Islamabad, Jan 31, IRNA – Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said arrangements are being made to introduce air and ferry services for the Shia pilgrims in view of terror attacks on them.

Nawaz Sharif told various delegations during his visit to Balochistan that the national flag carrier will also start special flights for the pilgrims.

The statement days after a deadly attack on a bus of Shia pilgrims in Balochistan killed over 20 people and injured dozens more. The banned

“Lashkar-e-Jhangvi” group had claimed responsibility for the attack that was widely condemned as terror attack across the country.

“I was deeply grieved by recent attacks on Shia devotees,” the Prime Minister said.

He told a gathering of elected representatives of Balochistan in Quetta that culprits involved in heinous crimes like attacks on buses will be brought to justice.

The Prime Minister said that Federal Government was committed to resolving the issues faced by Balochistan and is taking measures to put it on the track to prosperity.

He stressed the need to further accelerate development projects in the province to ensure relief for the people of the province.

While meeting Parliamentarians from Balochistan, the Prime Minister said that 90 % of economics benefits of the Pak-China Economic Corridor would go to the people of Balochistan in the form of employment and other economic opportunities.

During his visit to Corps Headquarter at Quetta Cantonment, the PM said security forces were playing commendable role for securing peace and stability in the province.

He urged the civil and military leadership to devise joint strategy for ensuring durable peace in Balochistan. He called upon the military and civil leadership to adopt collective approach in this regard.
