Suicide attack kills two in Karachi

Islamabad, Jan 29, IRNA - Two persons lost their lives when a suicide bomber attacked the Rangers Headquarter in Karachi on Wednesday, the third blast in the same area since morning, local media reported.

According to initial report, a suicide bomber tried to enter the Rangers Headquarter in Nazimabad area and blew himself up when he was stopped by the security personnel at the gate.

A ranger was killed and five others including two security men were injured when a rangers’ check post came under attack this morning.

The first blast occurred when unidentified miscreants hurled a hand grenade on a rangers’ check post in Nazimabad area near matric board office. The other remote-controlled blast occurred just after few minutes of the earlier explosion at the same place.

Initially six persons including two rangers and a policeman were injured who were shifted to hospital where one ranger succumbed to his injuries.

Separately, six suspects including two belonging to banned outfits were also arrested in Karachi. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition were seized during the raid.

Moreover one person was killed in a gun-firing incident in Karachi whereas another was killed in a separate incident.

Three persons were killed in separate incidents of violence in Karachi's Baldia Town and in Site area.
