India keen on investment in Iran: envoy

Shiraz, Jan 25, IRNA – Indian Ambassador to Iran D.P. Srivastva said on Saturday that his country is keen on investment in Iran.

Addressing a seminar of the Fars province economic activists, he said that the current level of commercial exchange between Iran and India is lagging behind the capacity the two countries possess and that the figure can increase remarkably.

The ambassador said that the Indian government is willing to enhance level of economic and commercial ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and investment in Iran.

Referring to import of Iran’s oil by India, Srivastva said that India is one of the four countries which has bough a considerable volume of oil form Iran in recent years.

Iranian merchants can buy Indian products in exchange for crude oil, he said.

India needs large amounts of minerals such as cupper, he said, noting that Iran can supply major part of Indian demands.
