Geneva II confab, a political show: deputy FM

Tehran, Jan 22, IRNA - Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and Africa Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said here on Wednesday that the Geneva II conference on Syria is a political show and a failure.

Talking to IRNA, Amir-Abdollahian underlined that the international conference will not achieve any appropriate outcomes and needs more sessions in order to help settle the Syrian crisis.

He made the remarks on the sideline of the funeral procession of Iranian diplomat, assassinated in Sana'a last Saturday this morning.

The main issue is that Iran plays a pivotal role in resolving the Syrian crisis, he noted.

Abolqassem Assadi, 57, financial and consulate officer of Iran’s embassy in Sana’a was assassinated on Jan 18.
