Blast kills 6 Pakistani police officers

Islamabad, Jan 22, IRNA - At least six police officers and a child were killed in a bomb blast in northwest Pakistan on Wednesday, police said.

The blast also injured seven people including four police officers and three passersby in a marketplace.

Police sources said that police officers were deployed for the security of polio vaccination team when a remote controlled bomb targeted their van at Sardheri area.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Suspected Taliban are blamed for these attacks.

It is second polio vaccination related attack in the country in two days.

Three polio workers including two women were killed in firing in the commercial hub of Karachi on Tuesday.
