FM says interaction with neighbors, Iran top priority

Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA – Interaction with the neighboring countries is Iran's top priority, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Monday.

Addressing the 13th Iran-Turkmenistan joint economic commission session, Zarif said today, a new atmosphere has been created for Iran to foster ties with its neighbors.

He said Turkmenistan, from among 15 neighboring states, has special position in Iran's foreign policy while the two enjoy long joint border lines and cultural commonalities.

Referring to 22-year-old relations between Iran and Turkmenistan, Zarif hoped Tehran would play active role in making development in its brotherly country.

He further hoped Iran-Turkmenistan joint economic commission would pave the way for further proximity between the two friendly nations.
