Bomb kills six Pakistani security men, four civilians

Islamabad, Jan 20, IRNA - A suicide bomber attacked a check post in a military area of the Pakistani garrison city of Rawalpindi and killed at least six security men and four civilians on Monday, police and rescue officials said.

The bomber on a bicycle targeted the post jointly manned by the army and the police, police officer Muhammad Maqbool said.

Rescue teams said that 18 people, including soldiers, were also injured in the attack. Several children were also injured in the attack, doctors said.

The blast smashed windows of several buildings in the crowded R A Bazaar and damaged several vehicles. The injured were shifted to the nearby military hospital.

The army cordoned off the area and are not allowing the media to have access to the area.

Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. It is the second bomb attack in Paskistan in two days.

A Taliban explosives-laden van targeted a convoy of the security forces and killed 20 soldiers and injured 30 others in the northwesatern city of Bannu on Sunday.
