Bomb attack kills 20 Pakistani security men

Islamabad, Jan 19, IRNA -- A suicide bomber killed at least 20 security men and injured dozens of others in northwest Pakistan on Sunday, security sources said.

The bomber struck a convoy of the security forces in Bannu district near the North Waziristan tribal region. The attack occurred in the highly-secured military area, witnesses said.



The convoy of the vehicles of the security forces routinely gather at Bannu for heading to the tribal region on every Sunday, sources said.



The injured were shifted to a military hospital in the area.



The bomber using an explosive-laden vehicle struck a convoy of the security forces in Bannu district. The attack occurred in the highly-secured military area, witnesses said.



Sources said that the convoy of nearly 25 to 30 vehicles was heading to North Waziristan tribal region.



The security forces cordoned off the area and conducted rescue operation.



No group claimed responsibility for the deadly attack. The government blames Taliban for attacks on security forces.
