Iran FM, UN chief discuss Geneva II confab on phone

Tehran, Jan 18, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon discussed the upcoming Geneva II conference on Syria in a telephone conversation made Friday evening.

The Iranian minister stressed Tehran would accept no pre-condition for its presence in the Geneva II conference.

Zarif made the remarks while speaking in a joint press briefing with his visiting Senegalese counterpart Mankeur Ndiaye.

"Tehran does not care about the context of the precondition but is against it in general," Zarif said.

Iran has always welcomed non-military solution to the Syrian crisis through mutual understanding and without the interference of foreign forces, noted the foreign minister.
