Blast at religious center kills 4 in Pakistan

Islamabad, Jan 16, IRNA – A blast at a religious center Thursday evening killed at least four people and injured dozens of others in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, police and witnesses said.

Witnesses said the blast occurred inside the mosque at a time when hundreds of faithful were offering evening prayers.

Doctors said that over 40 people were shifted to hospitals.

TV footage showed chaos inside the mosque and the people were shown running to safe places.

There was no immediate information about the nature of the blast.

Shah Farman, Information Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of which Peshawar is the capital, said that 25 people were injured in the blast.

The blast caused damage to the “Tableeghi Markazi” in the outskirts of Peshawar.

People come from other places to the center for prayers and listening religious speeches on every Thursday evening.

Doctors said that several injured were registered critical.
