Tehran, IRNA – An Iranian runner has improved the country’s record for the 5,000-meter run after some 29 years.

Amir Zamanpour broke Iran’s record for 5,000 meters on Sunday after winning the run in an athletics tournament in Turkey.

He ran the track in 13: 50.08, topping a previous record of 13: 53.40 reported from Seyyed Hamid Sajjadi in 1995 World Championships in Athletics in Gothenburg, Sweden.
