Islamabad, IRNA – Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tehran Muhammad Mudassir Tipu says Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s current visit to his country is the peak of strong bonds between the two nations and the alignment of their authorities in different aspects.

The ambassador made the comments on Monday in an exclusive interview with the IRNA in Islamabad where President Raisi arrived earlier in the day at the start of a two-day official visit.

The people and government of Pakistan attach paramount importance to President Raisi’s trip, Muhammad Mudassir said. He added that the visit is the first by an Iranian president to Pakistan in eight years, expressing hope that the visit would have key outcomes.

Neighborliness and common bonds between the Pakistani and Iranian nations have put the two sides on the path of friendship, added the ambassador who presented his letter of credence to Raisi in late January this year.  

Referring to developments in West Asia, including the Gaza war, Muhammad Mudassir said that President Raisi’s trip, which is taking place at a sensitive time, is indicative of the important of consensus by the two countries on regional issues.    

Raisi’s trip is a step forward in integration between the governments of Iran and Pakistan in strengthening their cooperation and interaction at high levels, especially between their security bodies, the ambassador stressed.

On Sunday, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar told his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian on the phone that President Raisi’s trip to his country is regarded as a turning point in relations between the two neighboring nations.

Earlier that day, Spokeswoman of Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry Mumtaz Zahra Baloch also hailed Raisi’s visit to her country as historic.
