Tehran, IRNA- Vice-President of the Judiciary for International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi who is also the Secretary of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights says the enemy must take into account that the Islamic Republic does not tolerate encroachment on its interests and security and will give a direct and serious response to any aggression even if it takes place in a third country.

According to IRNA's report on Wednesday, Gharibabadi issued the warning during his visit to the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus that was destroyed by the Zionist regime's brutal airstrike on April 1.

Syrian and Iranian officials will jointly pursue the issue of filing a legal case against the criminal Zionist regime with international organizations and human rights forums, he said, adding that the attacks a complete violation of international obligations and laws, as well as the provisions of the United Nations Charter.

The Iranian official highlighted the obligations under the 1961 convention on the protection and immunity of diplomatic places and diplomats and the 1973 convention on internationally protected persons.

While criticizing the weak approach of the UN Security Council toward the Israeli crimes, Gharibabadi emphasized that the body under the provisions of the United Nations Charter has a clear responsibility in maintaining international peace and security, and can take necessary measures to deal with the usurping Zionist regime.

We witnessed during the Security Council meeting that some countries claiming to be the defenders of international laws such as Britain, France and the United States did not even condemn the aggressive act of the Zionist regime, he noted.

The Secretary of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights continued by saying that the Security Council has been very incapable in maintaining international peace and security and in fulfilling its duties and responsibilities, and therefore his country had the right to legitimate defense and based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

He also touched on the Zionist regime's warmongering policy and the operation ‘True Promise’, saying that the Iranian armed forces, with this decisive response, fulfilled the orders of the Supreme Leader and expectations of the Iranian nation.

The Iranian response was under international law and was based on the principles of humanity and Islam. The Islamic Republic has started its political and legal measures in this case and will follow it up seriously, Gharibabadi concluded.
