-- Iran, China, Russia engage targets in joint maritime exercise

The Maritime Security Belt – 2024 exercise had the active participation of China, Russia, and Iran, involving live firing at designated surface targets on Tuesday.
Various vessels and fast attack boats from the IRGC Naval Force are involved in the exercise, along with soldiers from the Islamic Republic Army.

--  Iranian wrestler Zare’ tops UWW superheavyweight ranking

Freestyle wrestler Amirhossein Zare’ is the only Iranian to stand atop his respective weight class in the latest United World Wrestling Rankings.
The reigning world champion Zare’ pipped Georgian great Geno Petriashvili – beaten by the Iranian in last September’s world final – to the top spot of the 125kg class, with American Mason Parris and Taha Akgül of Turkey following the top two respectively.

--  Iran wins futsal gold in Winter Deaflympics

The Iranian futsal team was crowned the men’s champion at the Erzurum 2024 Winter Deaflympics in Turkey. Alireza Mokhtar-Abadi bagged a hat-trick as Reza Davarzani’s men defeated Japan 3-1 in the Tuesday’s final showpiece.
Iran overcame Italy and the Netherlands before playing to a stalemate against the host to finish atop the group and progress to the quarterfinals. A last-eight victory over Algeria sent Iran into the semifinal clash against Brazil, where goals from Mokhtar-Abadi, Ali-Asghar Mahboubi, and Ali-Akbar Ahmadvand secured a 3-0 win for Davarzani’s side.

--  Iranian, Arab Artists Hold Joint Exhibition in Damascus

In the run-up to International Quds Day, Iranian and Arab artists have created artworks in Damascus for an art exhibition. 
The event titled “Revenge is Inevitable” was organized by the Visual Arts Center of the Islamic Revolution Art Bureau in collaboration with two Syrian institutions. It aims to express artistic solidarity with Palestinians.
The exhibition also commemorated the Iranian military advisors and their accompanying officers who were martyred in a recent Israeli missile strike against the consular section of the Iranian embassy in the Syrian capital city of Damascus.

--  Isfahan’s Non-Oil Products Exports Top $1.5bn

Director General of customs offices of Isfahan province Kouhestani Pajouh has said that over 2.268 million tons of goods, valued at $1.429 billion, were exported from the customs offices of the province in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2024).
Cast iron, steel and steel products, oil and petrochemicals, machine- and handwoven carpets, dairy products, copper were of the main products exported from the customs offices of this province overseas last year, the added.

--  Iran Adds 6,000 Tonnes to Sea Transportation Capacity

Head of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Allah Morad Afifi has said that over 6,000 tonnes was added to the country’s existing trade capacity after the first ship carrying public goods joined the Caspian Sea fleet.
In the early days of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2024) and in line with promoting the quality and renovating and developing the maritime fleet of the country in the Caspian Sea, an equipped vessel with the capacity of transporting more than 6,000 tonnes of goods was joined the nationwide trade fleet, Afifi said.

-- Iran Public Library Foundation condemns Israeli invasions in Gaza

The Secretary General of the Iran Public Library Foundation has written a letter to Viki Mc Donald, President of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), expressing deep concerns and condemnation regarding the recent Israeli invasions and the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

In his letter, Mehdi Ramezani highlighted the significant loss of life and destruction of cultural institutions in the region, the public relations office of the foundation announced on Friday. 

The letter, which noted that over 40,000 people, including women, children, and journalists, have been killed and displaced as a result of the invasions, pointed out the extensive destruction of libraries and archive centers.

The capacity of Iran’s commercial maritime fleet has increased by 6,000 tons after a new cargo vessel joined the Caspian Sea fleet, an official at Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) said.

--  ‘Important’ ruins unearthed in downtown Isfahan

Archaeologists have unearthed an array of “important” ruins and centuries-old structures in Isfahan, which was once the capital of Persia during the Safavid era (1501-1736). The discovery was made in the Zarrin-Kamar passageway situated in downtown Isfahan adjacent to the UNESCO-registered Jameh Mosque of Isfahan, IRNA reported on Thursday.

“The passageway is situated in the heart of the historical fabric of Isfahan, and significant evidence from various historical periods has been discovered within it,” Ali Shojai Isfahani, who presides over the archaeological team, said.
