According to the IRNA reporter, a number of personalities from Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, including Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar as a chief guest attended the gathering.
While welcoming guests, Iran's Consul General Hassan Darvishvand underlined that Islamophobia is the outcome of seditious and self-interested plots of the American regime and some Western countries in creating terrorist groups such as Daesh, and the responsibility for all the brutal killings and destruction by these groups rest with the United States and its allies.
Darvishvand also touched on the ongoing Israeli bloodshed in Gaza and said: This year's Ramadan is painful and unfortunate for the Islamic community as the barbaric and occupying Zionist regime with the support of the US and other western countries has martyred tens of thousands of Palestinians.
“These crimes are committed due to inaction of international organizations and the betrayal of some Arab countries. However, we are confident that our brothers will win in Palestine”, he added.
The event was ended with evening congregational prayers and the Iftar banquet at the Iranian consulate.
A resolution, tabled by Pakistan in 2022, called for, among other things, concerted action to fight ongoing violence against Muslims and requested the UN Secretary-General to appoint a special envoy to combat Islamophobia.
The resolution finally resulted in proclaiming March 15 as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, with the UN General Assembly calling for “strengthened international efforts to foster a global dialogue on the promotion of a culture of tolerance and peace at all levels”.
