Tehran, IRNA – Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami has emphasized that the construction of each power plant requires seven years and that he hopes two 1000-megawatt power plants would be inaugurated by 2029 concurrent with the end of the Raisi administration.

Addressing reporters on Wednesday, Eslami said that the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant ranked first in terms of efficiency of nuclear power plants from March 2023 to March 2024 based on an assessment of the International Atomic Energy Association.

The electricity generation of the power plant passed 7 billion kilowatt-hours; so, it fulfilled its task appropriately, he said, hoping that it will provide the Iranian nation with the same services in the next Iranian year, which will start on March 21, 2024.

The AEOI chief also announced that in coming May, the organization is scheduled to inaugurate the irradiation facilities in accordance with promised timelines, adding that the project of irradiation for agriculture would be carried out for the first time in Iran as well.
