The meeting took place in Tehran on Thursday, a day after members of the outgoing fifth round of the Assembly of Experts held their last meeting.
They issued a final statement that expressed gratitude toward the Iranian people for their turnout in last week’s elections for new parliament as well as the new Assembly of Experts.
The assembly is tasked with choosing a new leader for the Islamic Republic.
