Raisi arrived in Negor city in southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province on Wednesday in a surprise visit to inspect relief operation and talk to flood victims.
The Iranian president said that he plans to hold talks with the crisis management officials in this province to make decisions on efforts needed to help flood-hit areas and refrain from future floodings.
Torrential rains from February 25 to 29 engulfed southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province and devastated infrastructure and agriculture; therefore, all relief and rescue departments were mobilized to reduce potential damages and losses.
The floodings engulfed some 1,947 villages in the province and numerous houses were demolished totally or partially. Residents of 252 villages have seen their water supplies cut due to damage caused by the floods.
From the beginning of this round of floodings, three ministers along with commander of IRGC Ground Forces, head of the air rescue center of the Iranian Red Crescent Society and other provincial officials have been visiting the flood-hit areas to inspect and follow up the situation on the ground.
