Zahedan, IRNA – Floods in the souteastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan have inflicted over $40 million in damage to the province, according to the director of the province’s crisis management headquarters.

Majid Mohebbi told IRNA on Monday that the losses have majorly affected road, agricultural fields and residential units infrastructures, adding that the rescue teams have been assessing the extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, the exact extent of losses will be announced after the coming rainfalls in the weekend, he said.

Two days ago, Mohammad Hassan Nami, the head of Iran’s national crisis management organization, reported that 16 counties and 1,947 villages in Sistan and Baluchestan have been hit by floods in the past few days.
