The man, whose name has not yet been released by authorities, self-immolated in front of the Israeli embassy on Sunday shouting “Free Palestine", a news website reported.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, the man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The members of the Secret Service subdued the man in Air Force uniform before the arrival of emergency responders.
In December, a protester self-immolated in front of the Israeli consulate in Atlanta.
The embassy has been the site of sustained protests against the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza.
