Tehran, IRNA – Yemeni Armed Forces’ spokesman Yahya Saree has confirmed that the country's naval forces targeted a British vessel in Gulf of Aden in response to the UK and the US aggression against Yemen.

Yemen’s missiles accurately hit the target and caused the British ship to stop, Al Jazeera quoted Saree as saying on Monday.

He said that the ship may sink because of the extent of damage suffered in the attack.

UK-based maritime security firm Ambrey had reported on a new incident in the Red Sea in the early hours of Monday without mentioning the details.

Saree further stressed that Yemen will not stop carrying out operations against Israeli-linked ships until the end of the war in Gaza.

He went on to say that a US MQ-9 drone was also shot down by Yemeni forces earlier on Monday. As the spokesman said, the US drone was spying throughout the space of Hodeidah city in west of Yemen.

Since the start of war in Gaza in October, 2023, Yemen has warned the Israeli regime against the aftermath of the war and urged it to end it. After the regime’s refusal, Yemen began attacks on vessels related to Israel in the Red Sea.
