Amirabdollahian also touched on stiff resistance Palestinian fighters are putting to invading Zionist forces in the Gaza Strip.
“I would like to congratulate the leaders of Palestinian resistance movements because their efforts could record a new victory in Gaza during this time round”, he said.
The top Iranian diplomat was speaking at a ceremony commemorating the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Damascus.
"First of all, I pay my gratitude to the martyrs of Syria and Iran and all the martyrs of the resistance”, he told the gathering, adding that today Iran and Syria have common views on resistance because the blood of martyrs of the two countries are mixed in this land.
He hailed the growing ties between Tehran and Damascus but expressed sorrow that this year’s anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution is being held at the time “we are witnessing the genocide of the people of Gaza by the Zionist regime."
Elsewhere in his remarks, Amirabdollahian also talked about his meetings with the leaders of the Lebanese and Palestinian resistance movements in Beirut.
“I found that they [resistance] are in their best condition and undoubtedly, the victory of Gaza is very close and the end of Netanyahu and the Zionist criminals is closer”, he underlined.
Iran FM meets resistance leaders
Amirabdollahian also sat down with a group of leaders of the Palestinian resistance groups in Damascus.
During the talks, the Iranian foreign minister exchanged views on the developments in Gaza and stressed the need to stop the crimes and genocide being committed by the Zionist regime against the Palestinians.
Earlier, the visiting top Iranian diplomat held talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.
