Tehran, IRNA – Yemen’s army spokesman says the country has attacked a US warship sailing in the Red Sea to respond to US aggressions on the Arab country and as part of a campaign to support the people of Palestine in their fight against Israel’s invasion of Gaza.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree’ said on Wednesday that the Yemeni armed forces had fired naval missiles at USS Gravely earlier in the day.

Saree’ said all US and British ships sailing in the Red Sea and in the Arabian Sea will remain a target for Yemeni armed forces because of attacks by the two countries on Yemen in recent weeks.

“The American and British warships will be targeted in line with our legitimate right to defend the country and nation and the (Muslim) ummah and to emphasize on Yemen’s continued support for Palestine,” said the general in a statement.

Yemenis started attacks on Israeli-linked ships in October several weeks after the Israeli regime launched an all-out aggression on Gaza.

The attacks expanded to cover US and British ships earlier this month after the two countries carried outs attacks on Yemeni territory in a clear show of support for Israel’s wart on Gaza.
