Islamabad, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian says expansion of relations with the brotherly and friendly country of Pakistan is a staple policy of Iran.

Amirabdollahian made the remarks in a meeting on Monday between high-ranking delegations of Iran and Pakistan in Islamabad.

The minister’s visit to Pakistan takes place at the official invitation of Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and is aimed at boosting security and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Amirabdollahian and Jilani are expected to attend a press conference after the meeting of the Iranian and Pakistani delegations.

The top Iranian diplomat is also to hold meetings with Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwar ul Haq Kakar as well as General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army, later on Monday.
