Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Syria Geir Pedersen have held talks on the latest developments regarding political process in the war-torn Arab country.

In a Wednesday meeting on the sidelines of the Davos Forum in Switzerland, Amirabdollahian underlined Iran's strong support for the stability and security in Syria, expressing readiness to help the UN special envoy succeed in his mission.

Pedersen, for his part, explained his assessment of the political, security, and economic circumstances in Syria, and outlined his proposals for resolving the country’s challenges. He also appreciated Iran's collaboration and support in accomplishing his mission.

Iran’s foreign minister arrived in Switzerland on Tuesday at an official invitation to take part in the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in Davos.

In addition to attending the programs of the Davos 2024, Amirabdollahian participated in several bilateral meetings with his counterparts and senior officials from different countries and organizations, and they exchanged views on bilateral, regional, and international issues of interest.
