Tehran, IRNA - In their final communiqué concluding a summit in Tehran, representatives from human rights organizations and international legal bodies have called for the Israeli regime to be prosecuted in international courts for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The fifth extraordinary meeting of the Standing Committee on Palestine of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states (PUIC) and the first session of the Palestine Committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) were held in Tehran on Wednesday.

“We, participants in the fifth extraordinary summit of the Standing Committee on Palestine…. gathered to discuss the brutal aggressions of the Zionist regime against the people of Palestine, resulting in the martyrdom of thousands, including a significant number of women and children, as well as extensive destruction in Gaza and all its vital infrastructure,” they declared in their final communiqué.

“While committing these war crimes and ruthless attacks, the Zionist regime deliberately opposes any prospect of an immediate ceasefire and the opening of corridors to send humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and other occupied Palestinian territories,” it added.

The statement highlighted: "We express our deep concern along with the international community because the flames of the Zionist regime's demonic actions will extend beyond the borders of occupied Palestine. Given the current dire situation in Palestine, the entire region faces a very serious challenge that could have dangerous consequences for global peace and security.”

The committee on Palestine reiterated that the Palestinian issue is the primary concern for the Islamic world, noting that the occupied Jerusalem al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque at its heart are a “red line for all Muslims".

“We confirm that the war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocidal acts committed by the politicians and military forces of the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip, including military attacks, ground operations, air raids, destruction of homes, places of worship, public service centers, schools, hospitals, as well as the massacre of innocent people and their detentions, blatantly violate international human rights laws and constitute a deliberate violation of relevant United Nations resolutions,” the statement said.

“These acts must be referred to the relevant international courts for prosecution,” it added.

The committee further appealed to the international community to fully assume its responsibility for condemning these actions and taking steps to immediately stop them.

Additionally, it called for the Zionist regime to be compelled to pay material damages to the victims of its atrocities in the Gaza Strip and those affected by the destruction of its vital infrastructure.
