Israeli sources have been quoted by the media, including the Lebanese al-Mayadeen television channel that 9,000 Zionist soldiers have received psychiatric consultations since the beginning of the Gaza war.
A quarter of those who were receiving treatment for mental illness or suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) did not return to the war, sources said.
Based on the information provided by the Zionist military, 3,221 soldiers have so far been injured in the battle with Palestinian resistance fighters in the Gaza Strip, and about 13,000 regular and reserve forces have gone through medical treatment at least once over the past three months.
Several Israeli media have also reported symptoms of stress among Zionist troops since the regime announced launching a ground invasion of Gaza in November.
“The symptoms can appear during or after an activity, and the soldiers can feel, among other things, rapid heartbeat, sweating, a sudden increase in blood pressure, uncontrollable body shaking, confusion, and inability to move,” according to a recent report by the Israeli news website Walla.
If the symptoms continue for more than four weeks, “the soldier’s condition may deteriorate into severe post-traumatic stress disorder,” Walla reported, adding that such symptoms found among some 1,600 soldiers, with hundreds being discharged from service due to the same reason.
Israel launched its genocidal campaign in Gaza on October 7, making the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, a pretext.
More than three months of aerial and ground attacks in Gaza has claimed some 23,000 lives of Palestinians, mostly women and children, while turning the besieged coastal strip into the rubble.
Palestinian resistance groups keep up their fight against invaders and have inflicted heavy losses on the Israeli military.
The Zionist regime has announced 687 fatalities and over 900 injuries among its troops so far. But reports including those by Israeli media outlets and Palestinians say the regime is hiding the real number in order to avoid public reactions.
